Our Story

Hi, I'm Alyssa! I'm an artist, wife and a mother of two daughters, based in Vancouver Island. My creative career began when I picked up my first DSLR camera in the winter of 2016. Since then, I have been capturing my family's milestones and creating beautiful memories through photography.

In 2020, in the midst of my second pregnancy and the *eeeep* pandemic, I started designing with bits of clip art making personalized decals for t-shirts and baby announcement onesies to pass the time. It has grown from a hobby to a fulfilling small business! In 2021, I began designing and making wooden heirloom gifts, decor, and announcements using my own designs from scratch, as well as licensing from other designers. The more I created, the more I fell in love with the design process.

Now, in 2023 and I have become proficient in multiple design softwares, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate. I am now designing patterns for fabric, wallpaper and home decor!  It's been an exciting journey, and I am continuing to learn and growing as an artist.

One of the highlights of my career so far was being featured alongside other incredible creatives in Nicole Richie's Etsy holiday gift guide in 2022. It was an amazing experience and validation of my hard work.

Recently our handwritten recipe cutting board was featured on Cityline for Etsy's Top 3 Modern Wedding Trends 2023.

When I'm not creating for Heart and Home Designs, I enjoy fitness, baking, painting, photography, and gardening. I am so grateful to be able to share my creativity with others.
